IRF2 belongs to the interferon regulatory factor family. IRF2 regulates the transcription regulation important to cell proliferation (1) as well as immune responses by binding to the upstream regulatory region of type I IFN and IFN-inducible MHC class I genes (the interferon consensus sequence (ICS)) and repression of those genes (2).
