RARRES3 is expressed in a variety of cells including epidermal keratinocytes, and may be downregulated in tumor cells and cell lines. It shows phospholipase activity and interaction with type I transglutaminase. A C-terminal hydrophobic region allows perinuclear localization. RARRES3 is not structurally related to other RARRES genes.
