Obese animals have virtually no CART. CART inhibits both normal and starvation-induced feeding, and completely inhibits NPY-induced feeding. Immunoneutralization of CART by administration of anti-CART resulted into higher food intake suggesting that CART is an endogenous regulator of food intake.
