HOX-D10 expression along the anterior-posterior axis of cells provides specific, positional identities for the purpose of developmental regulation. It may have a role in the phenotype maintenance or promotion in epithelial cells. Studies have shown sustained overexpression of HOX-D10 to inhibit angiogenesis and cell migration, suggesting a potential role in tumor suppression.
