Bcl-10, together with CARMA1 and MALT1, forms part of a signal transduction pathway that triggers the activation of NFkB and JNK in response to antigen receptor ligation in T and B lymphocytes. Activation of these pathways leads to the activation, differentiation, and proliferation of specific T and B cell subsets. Chromosomal translocations of the genes encoding Bcl-10 and MALT1 contribute to the pathogenic process leading to MALT lymphomas.
