LRIG1 shows highest expression in subsets of glial cells in brain, and certain epithelia in liver, stomach, small intestine and skeletal muscle. Within the cell, LRIG1 is expressed in the perinuclear region as well as on the surface. LRIG1 binds ErbB receptors and promotes their ubiquitination, internalization and destruction.
