Pyrene是结构简单的多环芳香族化合物(PAHs)。已知的Pyrene衍生物可以嵌入dsDNA.

Pyrene具有内在荧光。当两个pyrene分子距离很近时，激发态原子就可以形成荧光光谱。因此，pyrene可以用做生物分子的探针。

Ethynylpyrene分子包含用于点击化学的三键片段，可以用于像Sonogashira反应一样的偶联反应。

通过纯化可以得到纯的PAH分子。不像其他由于氧化而发棕色的商业化的产品，我们的产品是发亮绿色的。
